Common Heading Accessibility Issues - No headings on page

No headings on pageIssue: The page must be divided into logical sections using headings. H1-H6 heading levels can be used, however, we recommend no more than three levels be used (H1 - H3).

Resolution: Add H1, H2 and H3 heading to the page where appropriate. Every page must have at least an H1 heading. In Ektron this is the all capital heading you see at the top of each page.

How to:

  • In the workarea
  • Edit the smart form missing headings
  • Enter text in the Page Title field to create an H1 heading
  • enter page subject in Page Title field
  • For larger pages or where appropriate, add H2 and H3 headings. Use heading fields if available otherwise create the text in a Paragraph Copy field and use the heading drop-down menu to transform plain text to a heading. Below are examples of the pre-made paragraph header option fields in various smart forms.
  • Various Page-Program Smart forms: enter h2 heading (level 2) as shown in various smart forms
  • Page smart form: enter heading and select heading level using radio buttons
  • Various smart forms: enter heading in paragraph copy field and use heading drop-down menu to format H1, H2 or H3 headings. Can also apply H4-H6 headings.
